Recording vs. publishing a Story: When to choose what?
Updated this week

Understanding when to record or publish a Story depends on the type of experience you want to create for your learners. Here’s a simple guide to help you decide:

When to record your Story

Choose to record your Story when:

  • You’ve created a non-interactive Story, such as an explainer video or linear content where learners are just watching without any interaction.

  • You don’t need learners to click on anything or make decisions.

Recording your Story will export it as an mp4 video file, which can be shared on platforms like social media, intranets, or within courses where interaction isn’t required.

When to publish your Story

Choose to publish your Story when:

  • You’ve added interactivity through response nodes, allowing learners to engage with the Story.

  • Your Story includes branched scenarios, where learners make choices that determine the next steps in the Story.

When you publish a Story, you can distribute it via a URL, embed code, or QR code, allowing for interactive use on various platforms. You also have the option to set up a direct integration with your LMS for seamless learning experiences. Read more.
