Using the Node Map

When creating a Story in We Are, you’ll be working in the Node Map. This is where you’ll build the structure of your Story — write your script, add nodes, and easily access Studio (where you can then bring Characters to life).

Here’s a quick guide to help you navigate the Node Map:

Top Banner

  • Top left:

    • Name your Story: Set the title of your Story.

    • Add description: Provide a brief description to outline the purpose or theme of the Story.

    • Change language: Set the language for your Story.

  • Middle of the top banner:

    • Story: Takes you back to the Node Map where you’ll build and edit your Story.

    • Skills: Add gamification elements to your Story by incorporating skills that track learner progress.

    • Settings: Customize various aspects of your Story, including:

  • Name and description

  • Set or change the Story language

  • Edit voiceover response settings

  • Add and edit your cast of Characters

  • Top right:

    • Record: Record custom audio or voiceovers directly within We Are.

    • Play/ Preview: Preview your Story to see how it plays out.

    • Publish: When you're happy with your Story, click Publish to share it.

Middle section

  • This is the Node Map itself, where the magic happens! Add different types of nodes — Dialogue, Response, Poster, and more — to craft your Story’s flow. You have full control over how your Story unfolds.

Lower section

  • Zoom and navigation: Zoom in and out on the Node Map, find the starting point of your Story, and toggle between "select" and "drag" modes to easily move nodes around.

  • Pro Tip: Press the spacebar to quickly switch between "select" and "drag" modes — great for speeding up your workflow!
