Creating a We Are Story from scratch gives you full control over every detail of your content. Follow these steps to get started:
Step 1: Select "New Story"
Begin by clicking the New Story button in the upper right corner of your We Are dashboard. This will open up your options for creating a new Story.
Step 2: Choose "Start from Scratch"
From the options presented, select Start from Scratch.
You will then be prompted to give your Story a name, choose a location, and Character(s). This will take you to a blank Node Map where you can begin building your Story.
Step 3: Build your Story
Now it's time to let your creativity shine:
Add nodes: Start by adding nodes to represent different scenes or interactions in your Story. You can do this by clicking on the canvas and selecting the type of node you want to add (dialogue, response, poster, event, or end).
Arrange and connect: Drag and drop your nodes to arrange them in the order you want. Connect them to create a flow for your Story.
Customize: Click on each node to customize it. You can add text, animations, gestures, and more. This is where you can fully control the look and feel of each part of your Story.
Step 4: Preview and refine
Once you’ve added all your nodes, take some time to preview your Story. Click the Preview button in the top-right corner to see how your Story looks and flows from a learner’s perspective. Make any necessary tweaks, and go back to edit your nodes until everything looks and feels right.
Step 5: Share your Story
Once your Story is ready, click Share in the top-right corner.
How you share it depends on whether you want your Story to be a video or remain interactive:
Record Story: Download your Story as an MP4 video. This is ideal for linear Stories that you want to share on an LMS, intranet, social media, or anywhere else that supports video.
Publish and share: Keep your Story interactive and share it using a link, embed code, QR code, or SCORM package. This is a great option for LMSs, authoring tools, intranets, and other learning platforms.
If you use Publish and share, you can continue editing your Story after publishing — your changes will automatically be reflected in the shared version.
